Teen Lifestyle Group
JOURNEY THROUGH TEEN EMOTIONS
Adolescents are growing through life and struggling to navigate their emotions. Based on my education and experience, group settings provide an opportunity for youth to encourage each other around similar struggles. Since their peer group is more important to them versus adult relationships, group therapy provides a unique opportunity to help teens heal and learn.
"Through group therapy, adolescents can communicate in a way that normalizes these feelings and experiences. They are able to learn about themselves, the impact their behavior has on others, and are able to receive feedback from peers. At this age it is developmentally appropriate for adolescents to prefer feedback from peers than adults, which is another reason adolescents are oftentimes more open to this treatment modality." *Child and family mental health*
