THERAPY PRACTICE

JOURNEY TO EMOTIONAL HEALING

As children and adolescents grow, they are constantly in the process of developing  social skills and emotional intelligence necessary to lead healthy, happy lives. When children experience emotions or engage in behaviors that interfere with their happiness and ability to thrive, they may benefit from meeting with a mental health professional such as a therapist or counselor.

Teen Talk was designed to help teenagers navigate through their lives and begin their journey of emotional healing and responsibility. We also value the family dynamic and operate from a systemic approach to provide treatment to highlight the process that occurs in a family unit.

Frequently asked questions

General Questions

What is teen therapy?

Teen therapy is therapy that is focused on the teen experience. Jaynay infuses experiential and person centered approaches to reach the teenager for a behavior and mind shift.

What teen issues do you specialize in?

I specialize in the following teen issues: Teen depression Social media inappropriateness Self esteem Healthy dating Teens struggling with coparenting Suicidal ideation and more

What makes you the best for my teen?

I'm relatable, genuine, and teen focused. I believe teens need a sacred space to explore all of their thoughts and emotions to help them along their journey. Many clinicians treat teens from a perspective of resolving the behavior to appease the parent. While that is also my goal, I see it as a byproduct of having the teen identify it's a problem and remedy it on their own. That is what you call a win-win.

Where are you located and what are your hours?

We are a virtual practice. We are open Tuesday's and Thursday's.

About my sessions

I want to know everything my teen tells you. Are you going to tell me?

I know you're going to want to know what is going through their mind when they make certain choices. However, confidential is very important to the therapeutic process. I am a mandated reporter and in certain instances, I will have to break confidentality. Those instances are allegations of abuse, suicidal ideation, homicidal ideation and abuse of elderly persons. I would encourage a family session if your heart is burning to know the answer to a particular question.

Do you see families?

Yes, I do see families. I will be sure to communicate how often family sessions should take place and if it maybe helpful to have a separate family therapist. Teens often get nervous with their family joining their sessions due to the feeling that the power differential will impact our therapeutic relationship.

Do you accept insurance?

I am not an in network provider at this time. You can follow up with your provider to ask about reimbursement opportunities and requirements for out of network benefits. I provide superbills for clients to submit. You can also use flexible or health spending accounts.

How long are sessions and how much do they cost?

Sessions are 45-50 minutes long and cost $125 per session.

Do you offer a sliding scale?

We do, however, all of our sliding scale slots are filled. Check back to see when they are opened or get on our mailing list.
